ADAM M. STODDARD

Adam Stoddard is a partner at Zenere Cowden & Stoddard APC and has represented developers, general contractors and their insurance companies specializing in the representation of businesses and individuals in complex construction defect litigation, contract, and fraud-based disputes. This included representation ranging from Fortune 500 companies, to national builders and to individual board members of non-profit corporations through the initial investigation, pre-litigation process, and trial.


Adam also worked for a prominent plaintiff's law firm representing homeowner's associations in complex construction defect cases. This provided Adam with a practical approach to critically evaluate construction defect claims and implement effective resolution strategies through mediation and settlement negotiations.


Adam currently practices in both State and Federal courts specializing in the defense of medical malpractice, elder and dependent adult abuse, Government Tort Claims, defense of civil rights claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, defense of EMTALA claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1395, intentional torts, and premises liability on behalf of physicians, hospitals, physician practice groups and other healthcare providers in civil litigation matters. He also handles other personal injury and breach of contract lawsuits. 

He also represents health care providers in administrative investigations and hearings before their respective licensing boards such as the Medical Board of California and California Board of Registered Nuring.

MARC G. COWDEN

After graduating from Princeton University in 1989, Mr. Cowden spent a year in the domestic Peace Corps where he created and supervised a program to assist low-income seniors. He then attended Santa Clara University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1993.

Mr. Cowden is a member of the State Bar of California, and practices in both State and Federal courts. He specializes in medical malpractice defense, elder abuse, defense of civil rights claims under 42 U.S.C. §1983, premises liability, and representation of physicians in Medical Board licensing matters and nurses in Board of Registered Nursing matters. Mr. Cowden has tried cases in Sonoma County, Contra Costa County, Alameda County, and the United States District Court, Northern District of California.

JAMES ZENERE

James Zenere is a partner at Zenere Cowden & Stoddard APC, specializing in defending professional negligence cases on behalf of physicians, nurses and healthcare facilities throughout California since 1990. He has represented medical professionals in Federal and State courts and before the Medical Board, the Nursing Board and the California Department of Health Services. Mr. Zenere has also litigated Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse cases throughout Northern California. He also selectively handles some personal injury cases and matters pertaining to The American's with Disabilities Act. Mr. Zenere received his Bachelor's degree from UCLA in 1987 and his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1990.


Mr. Zenere has participated in medical/legal advisory committee meetings and peer review conferences in various counties throughout Northern California . He has worked extensively with medical specialists in the Bay Area community, particularly for Sutter Health, Stanford and UCSF, and handled cases for a number of professional liability companies including Sedgwick Claims Management Services, MedPro Group, MIEC, The Doctor's Company, and James River Insurance.


Mr. Zenere is a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Associations and is admitted to practice law in all of the state courts in the State of California and the U.S. District Court of California, Ninth Circuit. Mr. Zenere has also served as a Judge Pro Tern, arbitrator and mediator in civil litigation matters for Santa Clara County. He has for multiple years been selected by his peers as one of Northern California's "Super Lawyers." Mr. Zenere is married and has three daughters.
